Luleå and Harads – design-led wilderness retreats

Begin in Luleå, a coastal town in Swedish Lapland, known for its UNESCO-listed archipelago of over 1,300 islands. The combination of sea air, open horizons and proximity to nature creates an ideal starting point to slow down. Continue to Harads, located along the Lule River, where you find some of Scandinavia’s most distinctive design hotels. Activities can include yoga sessions in the mornings, forest bathing or guided hikes during the days followed by traditional sauna and cold-bath rituals.

Nature immersions in Ylitornio

Cross into Finland towards Ylitornio, set along the Torne River marking the border between Sweden and Finland. This quiet, rural region is defined by forested landscapes, open river valleys and striking sense of space. It offers a more authentic and less-known side of Lapland.

Discover land of fells in Pallas–Yllästunturi

Continue to North towards the Pallas-Yllästunturi region, home to one of Finland’s most beautiful national parks. Here, rolling fells rise above vast forests and well-marked trails lead through some of the purest nature in Europe. Days can be spent hiking across the fells, practicing outdoor yoga, or enjoying seasonal Nordic cuisine rooted in local ingredients.

Highlights

  • Sauna and water rituals: Traditional smoke sauna, cold immersion and floating meditation designed to support circulation, recovery and mental clarity.

  • Restorative sleep: Boutique stays in remote natural settings designed for deep rest and uninterrupted sleep.

  • Nordic gastronomy and foraging: Seasonal ingredients such as berries, mushrooms or fresh fish experienced through guided foraging and refined local cuisine.

  • Ruska nature experiences: Soft exploration of autumn landscapes at their peak — from canoeing on still waters to electric fatbike rides.

  • Optional extension: Saana fell - A journey to Saana, the sacred Sámi mountain at the meeting point of Finland, Norway and Sweden, for those wishing to extend further north.
